I cannot believe that Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., did not know that she was lying through her teeth when she told the rabble at a trumper campaign event in Michigan the other night that trump had caught Osama bin Laden.
And that wasn’t all. McClain, the 55-year old freshman representative from Stockbridge, Mich., went on to tell the crowd that there were no wars under trump.
I don’t know what is worse, if McClain knew she was lying or if she is so incredibly ignorant of the facts or if she is perfectly willing to regurgitate what she has been told to say. Or is she a pure Machavellian who believes that lying is acceptable when committed in the service of what she believes is a greater good, namely her own political future and being identified as a trumpian servant and sycophant.
To refresh, the terrorist, bin Laden, was killed on May 2, 2011, when President Barack Obama was in the White House. That fateful night, trump was hosting the season of “The Celebrity Apprentice” featuring Gary Busey and Meat Loaf and no, bin Laden was not captured during a commercial break.
As far as no wars under trump, tell that to the thousands who were killed by Syrian President Assad or the deaths and humanitarian crisis in Yemen that surged under trump with U.S. support to Saudi Arabia or the war in Afghanistan which did not end until Biden withdrew the troops.
I tend to believe that McClain new exactly what she was saying and knew full well that trump was about as responsible for capturing bin Laden as Putin is working to bring freedom to Ukraine. After all, this is the same woman who voted to reject the 2020 election results after the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol because Biden only won because of widespread voter fraud and whether she believes it or not is not the point. She sat in stone agreement at the rally as trump again insisted he won the 2020 election even though he actually lost the election including being defeated by Biden in Michigan by more than 154,000 votes. At the recent Michigan rally, McClain listened with rapt attention while trump also claimed he had won a “Man of the Year” award in Michigan years ago though no award has ever existed.
The point is that McClain would sell her grandmother to maintain her office and that means she’d do anything for trump’s endorsement.
And no, trump did not cure polio and neither was he the first man to set foot on the moon. Truth be told, trump also did not join with Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders up San Juan Hill and he did not set beside President Harry S. Truman, Winston Churchill and Josef Stalin at Potsdam. Just don’t tell that to McClain.
In my book, McClain is a dirty, rotten liar, and I don’t know how she can face her kids who just might know she was lying. How does she sleep at night and has she become so corrupt that lying is not a bad thing. She does have the mother of all liars as her role model but I wonder if she realizes how her comments are flowing like sewerage on the Internet and how many people will always now believe that trump caught bin Laden. Has McClain rationalized herself out of an honest life? Is there no sense of reality anymore?
I was taught as a child not to lie, it was a bedrock of my ethical makeup. Of course, as I got older, I lied and lied and lied, but the point is that I knew I was lying and I could feel it eat away a little more of my soul every time. I used phony proof to get served in bars and I stretched the truth, alright, I may have lied a few times on resumes.
I wonder if McClain faces that same ethical challenge when she lies and if she really understands how she may already be unable to distinguish between a lie and the truth.
Trump was in Michigan in support of Matt DePerno, running for state attorney general and Kristina Karamo, a candidate for secretary of state. Both were outspoken after the 2020 presidential election with claims of voter fraud.
I had never heard of McClain before and if she was just trying get Internet clicks, it worked because there have been story upon story upon story posted since her comments at the trump rally.
McClain represents Michigan’s 10th Congressional District. she has an associates degree from Lansing Community College and a bachelor’s from Northwood University, a private university whose graduates include Jose Jono Jumamoy, the former mayor of Inabanga, Bohol, Philippines and NASCAR driver, Robb Brent. She and her husband, Mike, have three children. McClain worked at American Express for 11 years, and then joined the Hantz Group, a business financial services conglomerate.
Trump endorsed her first run for Congress, saying she will be “an incredible Congresswoman for Michigan! She is strong on the economy & jobs, Border Security, Infrastructure, our Military & Vets, and the Second Amendment. Lisa has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” Trump didn’t mention that McClain is somewhat fact-challenged.
She also was endorsed by Michigan native, Ted Nugent, a rock musician and rabid supporter of gun rights who performed at trump presidential rallies and once joined Kid Rock and Sarah Palin for a four-hour meeting with trump that was like a “family reunion.”
Another glowing endorsement for McClain came from Mike Lindell, CEO of My Pillow, who has been in the forefront of the biggest lie of all, that trump won the 2020 election.
And then there are the ongoing confabulations of Hershel Walker, the former University of Georgia Heisman Award winner, pro-football player and trump-backed candidate for U.S. Senate from Georgia. Walker has claimed he was at the top of his class at the University of Georgia. He wasn’t and he never even graduated from college because he quit to play pro football. Walker also has claimed that he was a high school valedictorian. Uh uh. No such record exists. He also has also been accused by his ex-wife of making multiple threats against her life. He says it didn’t happen.
In endorsing Walker, trump said, “Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia? He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the N.F.L. He is also a GREAT person. Run Herschel, run!”
And as long as I’m on the subject of lies and rewriting history, there is a Republican move afoot to “expunge” the trump impeachment from 2019 for trying to extort Ukraine to find dirt on Biden. Rep. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., a candidate for U.S. Senate, will introduce a resolution to expunge the impeachment because Democrats didn’t prove “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
A five-term member of Congress, Mullin is a former professional mixed martial arts fighter who has an associate degree in construction technology from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology. In December 2020, Mullin was one of 126 Republican members of the House to sign an amicus brief in support of Texas v. Pennsylvania, a lawsuit filed at the U.S. Supreme Court contesting Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. The Supreme Court declined to hear the case on the basis that Texas lacked standing the Constitution.
Mullin’s resolution to expunge the impeachment has picked up five GOP co-sponsors.
The impeachment was voted in the House after trump was heard on a tape offering to provide Ukraine with military assistance, if Ukraine helped him find dirt on Biden for the 2020 election.
“Impeaching a sitting president is the most serious action Congress can take, and our Constitution is extremely clear on what is an impeachable offense,” Mullin told Fox News. “Democrats abused our Constitution for their political gain, manipulating a perfect phone call with a vulnerable nation.”
Funnily, that was just how trump described the call, “perfect.”
Please, can you get us some truth.
